This course is about people working with machines. It explains how to design, set up, and profitably operate manufacturing processes that transform a raw material into a component or finished good by casting, cutting, forming, or otherwise treating it in a series of operations performed by machines. These operations may involve bulk materials like coolants, paints or other chemicals. In metal working, such processes include casting, stamping, machining, plating and painting; in plastics, injection molding, rotary molding and extrusion; in electronics, semiconductor wafer and printed circuit board fabrication.
